BAC Certified Blockchain Foundations Associate
Certification exam — Blockchain Foundations Associate
The holder explains and verifies how a blockchain works without depending on a third party to interpret it.
This exam is taken online, unsupervised. The certificate says so in its signed record ("online-unsupervised"). It attests to a pass on the exam, not to the identity of the person who sat it; only the Secretariat's "Verified" badge relates to that. The supervised in-person exam provided for by the framework remains available through BAC.
Rules
- 3 hours in total, timed by the server. Answers sent more than two minutes after the deadline are ignored; only the last draft saved in time is marked.
- Written: 36 questions drawn from the fourteen workshops (40% of the grade). Practical: four generated tasks — decode a block header, verify an inclusion proof, diagnose a rejected transaction, build/sign/get a transaction included on a simulated practice network (60%).
- Pass: overall ≥ 70%, written ≥ 60%, practical ≥ 70%, and a fully correct inclusion-proof verification and signed transaction — a strong written part does not make up for a failed practical.
- At most 3 attempts per 90 days, 24 h wait between two.
- Tools allowed: all those on the page (hashing, signing, etc.) and your notes. No help from another person: the exam is individual.
- The pass and attempt rules are exam decisions awaiting validation by BAC's assessment lead.
Entry requirements
A certified account is required
Graded activities record results in your name and are the basis for a credential. They therefore need a complete certified file and a current consent. Filling in the file does not verify your identity; the Secretariat can verify it afterwards ("Verified" badge).
