About BAC
Cameroon's association for blockchain innovation and policy
Founded in 2018, the Blockchain Association of Cameroon (BAC) is a non-profit bringing together professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, and public institutions to advance responsible blockchain adoption in Cameroon.
Our mission
To use blockchain technology for the good of humanity and for the good of our country — including advancing the Sustainable Development Goals — and to advance trust, transparency, safety and innovation through distributed technologies and services.
Our vision
A Cameroon where blockchain and artificial intelligence are trusted national infrastructure — powering food sovereignty, sovereign AI, financial inclusion and a regional hub for research and talent, as set out in BAC's 2026–2029 strategy.

Our history
BAC's founding is documented in its Statutes, Internal Regulations, and official declaration receipt — not in the 2015 documents sometimes found circulating in early planning archives, which belong to unrelated organizations kept only as legal-drafting references.
2018
Cameroon Blockchain Conference & founding
The 21–22 August 2018 Cameroon Blockchain Conference in Yaoundé, organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MINPOSTEL), launched Africa's first Government Blockchain Association (GBA) chapter. BAC's Statutes were adopted 9 June 2018 in Douala; legal personality was granted 3 August 2018 (declaration N°305/2018/RDA/C19/SAAJP).
2019–2020
First training programs & first corporate member
BAC delivered GBA-affiliated Blockchain Foundations and Executive Consulting courses, including a partnership with MINPOSTEL's training school, and welcomed its first corporate member.
2021
Policy engagement begins
BAC's Operations Manager authored customs-modernization proposals for Cameroon's 2022 Finance Law, and the association engaged with a MINFI/MINPOSTEL seminar on cryptocurrency risks and opportunities.
2022
Official public launch & regulatory advocacy
BAC held its official launch event in Douala and publicly responded to COBAC/CEMAC cryptocurrency restrictions. The Conseil des Membres d'Honneur was constituted, with Dr. Henri Tafou as its first President.
2023
National dialogue & tax registration
BAC organized the 'Concertation Républicaine' conference on the future of law, currency, finance and inclusive economy in Cameroon, and formalized its tax registration.
2026
Digital Sovereignty strategy & ITU/UIT sandbox
The Honorary Council was restructured and validated a 2026–2029 strategy built around six axes — from regulatory sandboxes to sovereign AI — and BAC secured a confirmed role in an ITU-supported, MINPOSTEL-led AI regulatory sandbox.
